English 9 is a transitional course; students have left middle school after taking the 8th grade ELA exam and now must begin to prepare for the new state requirements for high school students. That being said, English 9 is not merely a course in test preparation. The primary focus of the class will be literature, which will be used to propel the writing curriculum.
